【摘要】:Thesepracticesandcriteriaweredevelopedforoccupationalexposures.Theyareintendedto(a)protectagainstclinicaldiseasefromexposuretorespirablecrystallinesilica,(b)bemeasurablebytechniquesthatarevalid,reproducible,andreadilyavailable,and(c)beattainablewithexistingtechnologyandprotectivepractices.1.1Thispracticecoversadescriptionofseveralactionsthatshouldbetakentoreducetheriskofharmfuloccupationalexposurestohumansinenvironmentscontainingrespirablecrystallinesilica.Thispracticeisintendedfor,butnotlimitedto,industriesregulatedbytheU.S.MineSafetyandHealthAdministration(MSHA)andtheU.S.OccupationalSafetyandHealthAdministration(OSHA).Aseparatepractice,designedfortheuniqueconditionsoftheconstructionindustryisunderdevelopment.Whilethispracticewasnotdesignedspecificallyforconstruction,itcanbeappliedandmaybebeneficial,totheextentfeasibleandpractical,pendingadoptionofaconstructionindustrystandard.1.2Nothinginthispracticeshallbeinterpretedasrequiringanyactionthatviolatesanystatuteorrequirementofanyfederal,state,orotherregulatoryagency.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheusertoconsultallmaterialsafetydatasheetsandlabelspertainingtoanyhazardousmaterialsusedinthisstandard.
